Garuda Indonesia is getting ready to officially launch the newest member of its fleet, the Boeing B777-300ER, along with the new first class product.
The aircraft was unveiled at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and, according to Garuda president and chief executive Emirsyah Satar, is the result of an initiative to broaden airline's international flight network and become a “global player”.
“The delivery of the Boeing 777-300ER sets a new standard of quality and value in air travel, especially for direct, long-haul flights, as we continue to expand our destination network globally,” said Emirsyah.
The ceremony also showcased the new first class product. Premium passengers of the B777-300ER will be treated to a range of privileges, most notably the “chef on board” service which enables them to choose from a selection of exclusive meals from a dedicated menu, prepared at an altitude of more than 35,000 feet (10,668 metres), by a stationed chef.
Other benefits include wifi connectivity and live broadcast from six international news channels (including CNN International, BBC World and CNBC). Garuda’s first B777-300ER will commence operations on July 9, flying between Jakarta and Jeddah.
