Langham Place Hotel Hong Kong offers free city tours

Guests staying at Langham Place Hotel Hong Kong, located in the bustling Mongkok District on the Kowloon side, can take advantage of the newly launched guided tours that take them on an exploration of the surrounding neighbourhoods. The tours are free for in-house guests and each lasts for about 40 minutes, perfect for those who have a little bit of time to kill before heading to the airport.

Mongkok, as well as the neighbouring district of Yau Ma Tai, is a great area to look at the local culture of the city, but in the evenings, the streets can be very crowded and become overwhelming to the uninitiated. English is also less widely spoken in this part of Hong Kong than in districts such as Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, so having a local guide from the hotel makes discovering these neighbourhoods much less daunting.

There are two tours every Monday to Saturday, except public holidays. At 11am, the Culture Tour takes guests for a stroll on Shanghai Street, heading south to Yau Ma Tei where guests can browse the traditional Chinese wedding accessory stores and others selling wooden antique furniture and Buddhist items. Owners of these history-laden shops will share with the guests stories of the neighbourhood. The Mongkok Market Tour at 6pm goes to Sai Yeung Choi Street, where there are many shops selling electronics as well as local fashion brands, and the famous Ladies' Market for bargain hunting.

Reservations are essential and may be made when booking a room or upon check-in at the hotel. For more information, call +852 35523369 or visit hongkong.langhamplacehotels.com.
