South Korea's SK Telecom to offer pre-paid SIM cards

SK Telecom, South Korea’s major telecommunications provider, plans to work with a smaller telecoms firm to introduce pre-paid SIM cards, ideal for visitors.

Customers will be able to pay for the mobile services in advance and not have to worry about registration fees or roaming costs.

The release date of the product has to still be confirmed.

Up until now, local telecom firms have only offered travellers rental phones that can be reserved online and picked up at the airport for a day, 10 days, one month or two months with prices starting at KWR3,000 (US$2.50).
