Thai Airways has introduced a new interior design for its incoming aircraft, complete with updated cabin products.

Dubbed the "Thai Contemporary Concept", the new design sees parts of the cabin area decorated with silk, along with wooden seat dividers in Royal Silk (business) class.

Passengers in business have increased legroom, and a seat function control unit designed to be seen from all angles. There is also a larger washbasin and automatic sensor tap in the washrooms, as well as the newest inflight entertainment programme available in all classes.

The business class seats offer a 180-degree recline, 20-inch seat width, and are fitted with 16-inch personal entertainment screens, which now have a new touch screen remote control.

The economy class seats, meanwhile, are now more colourful – sporting a combination of purple and orange. The seats feature a 32-inch pitch and are 18 inches wide. A 10.6-inch personal entertainment screen is fitted behind every seat.

The new design will first be introduced onto one of Thai’s Boeing 777-300ERs with a two-class configuration – 42 seats in business and 306 in economy. It will then be retrofitted onto other B777-300ERs that operate routes including: Singapore, Shanghai, Seoul, Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo. The carrier also intends to install the concept onto its upcoming B787 Dreamliners and A350s.

Great step forward for Thai, but they need also to look at inflight service too.
Stop using galley trolly to serve business class meals , complete with plastic and tin foil covers. The competition has moved to dine anytime/restaurant style service and really as a company that was always at the forefront of inflight quality and service during their history, they now needs urgently to catch up.
