Emirates: Liverpool to Dubai?

With all the high end premium traffic from Liverpool that fly MAN-DXB , it will be a coup if Liverpool get a direct A330 service to Dubai. Makes sense although, a dedicated lounge may be needed ( they seem to have managed ok without one at GLA and NCL).

"all the high end premium traffic from Liverpool"?

That's totally unwarranted and very disappointing that you felt it necessary to post a comment like this. How childish.

BUT very close to the truth

Bucksnet - 05/03/2012 17:18 BST

If KLM can't sustain a Liverpool service, then I doubt that even Emirates can.

Hippocampus - 05/03/2012 17:20 BST

Emirates certainly does well in the North West, but they are more likely to add frequencies from Manchester than set up a new base.

Bucksnet - 05/03/2012 17:21 BST

Emirates are more likely up gauge their existing flights to A380s.

SimonRowberry - 05/03/2012 23:53 BST

Hope they check the tyres before take-off. And that's a JOKE !! PS And the wheels.

ZKSmith - 06/03/2012 01:33 BST

KLM failed to sustain a service due to EasyJet operating the same route at far lower costs. EK wouldn't have any competition on this route. I would be surprised if they started a new service considering MAN in so close though.

skyguy79 - 14/03/2012 09:29 BST

Not sure why people are quick to slate Liverpudlians. There are plenty of wealthy peeps in Liverpool and surrounding ( think football ) also I am aware of the amount of passengers using MAN as a gateway to fly EK as I used to work for Emirates !

727jesmond - 17/03/2012 16:50 BST

I agree with skyguymanchester, people should not be so rude, regarding folk from Liverpool.

Re the KLM loss on the LPL-AMS route, that was a big shame and frankly a surprise to me. I used KLM service quite often and always found aircraft well supported, used it to Amsterdam only and onwards long-haul, hopefully when the economy improves they maybe back. Until then there is Easyjet on same sector.

LuganoPirate - 17/03/2012 17:17 BST

I have fond memories of Liverpool, but cannot think why EK would start direct flights from there. It's true you have Cheshire to the west and the BAE factory, but it's easier to get to MAN, which has a direct link to the motorway, than it is to LPL where you have to drive through the town.

727jesmond - 18/03/2012 11:50 BST

Im not sure I would think Emirates would offer a Liverpool link either, especially now, when things are not so great. I live in Cheshire, and use both airports, both take about the same time to get to, its true Manchester has the M56 motorway, but you have to be careful with traffic delays on that, jams are quite common. Liverpool has dual carriage way from Cheshire to the terminal also.

watersz - 18/03/2012 12:02 BST

where did this story origonate from as nobody has posted any related url ?

andystock - 18/03/2012 23:30 BST

Why would Emirates fly to Liverpool? Liverpool airport is the stanstead of the north!

Bucksnet - 19/03/2012 08:09 BST

Liverpool airport is the Southend of the north, not Stansted.

ConstantFlyer1 - 22/03/2012 16:59 BST

Emirates has a long list of potential routes, but I doubt any of them is in the UK. Emirates is a global airline and will be looking at potential high yield routes in areas of the world where the economic downturn has been far less pronounced than the UK.

727jesmond - 22/03/2012 17:57 BST

Stansted of the North sounds pretty accurate, Southend of the north, would be more like Blackpool Airport.

Bucksnet - 22/03/2012 19:53 BST

The new Southend is bigger than Blackpool, and Stansted is much bigger than Liverpool.

skywards - 22/03/2012 22:06 BST

Liverpool to Manchester what is it in miles 30?

You'd be deranged if you were paying a premium price for a business class ticket and didn't fly from MAN...the lounge..the A380 business class seat...i live in Newcastle and fly EK on their A330.200 and its business class seat sucks, as for the Cheviot lounge at NCL that EK use...i don't even use it no more and if i do its only to use the free wifi and to grab a bag of Golden Wonder cheese and onion crisps with a milky the summer its murder anyway with young males drinking as much as they can to justify the £16 pounds entry price before their 3 hour flight to Alicante on Easyjet.
