Skyteam network “more or less completed”

Posts

LeTigre - 08/11/2011 22:22 GMT

Air France, KLM, Delta all just care about profits, but I do have a soft spot for China Southern after one particularly interesting flight where we had to do ridiculously silly exercises and participate in a quiz with prizes where the person with the correct answer who pressed the service button quickest won!

VintageKrug - 09/11/2011 07:07 GMT

Sounds hideous. Skyteam is a joke.

LondonCity - 09/11/2011 11:36 GMT

It is true that Skyteam is a weak alliance for UK residents when it comes to coverage of Australia and NZ.

But I fail to see how it can be considered "a joke" for UK regional passengers who, since BA pulled its international flights from every airport bar London, find AF/KL a lifeline for reaching the outside world.

Also bear in mind that Skyteam offers European business travellers a wider coverage of the greater China region (mainland China, H Kong and Taiwan) than any other.

JonathanCohen09 - 09/11/2011 11:54 GMT

VK, please add after your 'Skyteam is a joke' IMHO!

For you that might be the case but the Sky Team Alliance certainly was not and is not a joke as far as I am concerned as for the last 4 years their carriers have served my needs very well in terms of route network, product and especially price. There are plenty of people out there who i have spoken to who would tell you the same thing.

I totally respect and have defended on several occassions your right to express an opinion, but in the right way please!

They are by no means perfect but they most certainly are not a joke IMHO!

Safe travels to all.

Jonathan

VintageKrug - 09/11/2011 12:09 GMT

Ha ha. Still a joke to me, even as a Skyteam Plat.

Hippocampus - 09/11/2011 13:30 GMT

Can we this statement as read that Virgin Atlantic will not be joining SkyTeam?

RichHI1 - 09/11/2011 13:45 GMT

Still wondering why the ground incidents seem to plague Sky Team (notably Delta and Air France).
Jonathan I think in the cas of nameless posters (play the ball not the player) it would be IMO as the H does not really apply.

JonathanCohen09 - 09/11/2011 14:08 GMT

RichHI1 - I will drop the H in future. Not sure though that I played the player as I do not think that my post was offensive in any way or attacking VK.

RichHI1 - 09/11/2011 14:10 GMT

Jonathan you did not in any way, I merely wanted to ensure that I was equally innocent of such a charge.

JonathanCohen09 - 09/11/2011 14:12 GMT

No problem, I ws just checking.

Tête_de_cuvée - 09/11/2011 14:23 GMT

JonathanCohen09,
You repeatedly rebuke posters who take offence at the baseless allegations, lies and deceptions posted by VK.

As VK is devoid of oxytocin and a moral compass, please look to your own compass before you criticise someone that opposes a troll who admits to having trawled the heartfelt tributes in a Cabin Crew’s obituary for material to use in his anti-Bassa bilious rants. A guy who hasn’t the decency to apologise when caught in a scurrilous libel.

VK uses the provision of useful authoritative information on BA sales, BA points/miles, BA refurbs etc as a guise to build respectability then peddles fabrications, defamations and deceptions in support of his twisted agendas.

Before you berate other posters JonathanCohen09, scratch the surface to understand the root cause.

JonathanCohen09 - 09/11/2011 14:48 GMT

Tete_de_Cuvee,

forgive me but I do not understand where your post is coming from? Is it with regards to this thread or some other posts that I have made?

I have frequently disagreed with VK's views and opinions and have said so quite forcefully but i have done so without attacking him personally.

If you look at any of the posts I have made that berate others for attacking VK, it is because they attack him personally and not his opinions. I have never berated anyone for taking offence or opposing what VK has said, I have berated them for making it personal.

You may have seen that I asked VK if perhaps he got it wrong with regards to the issue you mention above but the thread was removed, rightly in my opinion, before I could see if he responded or not. If he did not then that is dissappointing but will not lead me to attack him personally.

I would be pleased if you could give me an example of the type of rebuke you are talking about that i have posted as I am very careful with what I say on this forum as I have no wish to cause offence even when I want to make a point very forcefully.

VintageKrug - 09/11/2011 14:55 GMT

Not offended at all by your comment, Jonathan.

IMHO the "H" was, I understood, always meant to be ironic, so I'd prefer it was re-instated to its rightful place.

Other posters are obviously quite riled by my jottings here, which have never been libellous. Keeps them on their toes, which is handy when their minds are so out of shape otherwise.

Tête_de_cuvée - 09/11/2011 17:02 GMT

JonathanCohen09

Not wishing to repeat VKs libel, following two subsequent interventions by an alleged BA insider with apparent full knowledge, VK partially edited his original libellous post, before the whole thread containing the libel was withdrawn.

Having kept copies, my response to VK’s original libellous post was -

The fact you have chosen to resurrect this thread for your own malicious aims demonstrates that it is you who is endeavouring to point score. - Shame on you.

I have been aware, as many of us have, of the tragically sad event for over a week. The only public forum comment has been initiated by sad twisted individuals such as yourself VK. You are promoting allegations and your personal agenda as usual - despicable, abhorrent and solely self-serving - stop it.
A similar thread on FT has been stopped. I hope this one is now.

JonathanCohen – your response was

please watch your own language on this forum. By all means disagree with their post or opinion but that kind of description and personal attack is inappropriate at any time on any sort of public forum!!!
In your own words 'stop it'.

JonathanCohen09, you may find it acceptable for someone to trawl an obituary, then twist the heartfelt sympathies for their own warped agendas. I certainly do not.

Again JonathanCohen09 before you repeatedly berate other posters, scratch the surface to understand the root cause.

VK failed, yet again, to substantiate his libellous claims, fortunately the BA insider was able to totally refute them before the thread was withdrawn.

JonathanCohen09 - 09/11/2011 17:15 GMT

Tete_de_Cuvee - I think that we will have to agree to disagree on this topic as having read again your post and my reply, i am not sure why you feel that i was out of order with my reply. Describing a poster as 'a sad twisted individual' is still in my opinion out of order. you feel that it is not and that is something we will not agree on.

I would be happy to continue this debate with you but not on here as we are going off thread. If you want to contact me personally you can contact BT and they have my permission to give you my private email address.

I would also disagree that I repeatedly berate other poster's but again you are naturally entitled to your own opinion on that.

Dear VintageK,

With Malev and Mexicana out, AA filed for Chapter 11, Kingfisher joining date deferred to unknown, and the fact that it has the least coverage in North America, Europe and Asia (The 3 most important markets, in my opinion). oneworld seems like the joke now.

And to be honest, apart of JL and CX, nothing impress me in OW.

Back to the topic,

SkyTeam is not the best nor the worst and there are still plenty of rooms for improvement, however, I mostly fly KLM and so far, I am happy with their product and services - from my recent J trip, the food were the best airline food i've ever had and it was serve with a set of nicely designed tableware - and network coverage, not to mention the quick responsive online social media service and the delft house they gave out for J passenger!

Also, with the plan to introduce 180* flat seat next year, I will no longer need to crave for overly priced BA J seat during my long haul flight.

Save travel everyone.
